BEGINNER'S BASIC LEVEL 
(PRINTED STEP-BY-STEP PICTURE TUTORIAL INCLUDED)

You will learn how to make a simple
 bracelet & a pair of earrings
using basic techniques.

~ wrapped loops ~
~ coiling ~
~ wire wrapping ~
~ a pair of ear hooks ~



INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED LEVEL 
(PRINTED STEP-BY-STEP PICTURE TUTORIAL INCLUDED)

In this class, you will be taught how to make the viking knit, how to incorporate the beaded component & how to make a coiled cone ends.  Basic knowledge of wirework required but not necessary as step-by-step picture will guide you along in completing the project.



INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED LEVEL 
(PRINTED STEP-BY-STEP PICTURE TUTORIAL INCLUDED)


You will be taught how to do a netting technique to create a netted bezel to the cabochon, how to make the knitted base, the coiled filigree link & how to attach beads & filigree links to the base.  

Knowledge of basic wire work and open knitted loops required.  Nevertheless, the step-by-step photos and instructions will guide you along in completing the project.


Materials may not necessarily be the same as in the project.  

Classes can be conducted on a one-to-one basis
 or confined to a small group of students.

Feedback for Free Tutorial on Wire Wrapped Beaded Earrings

Hi there! I'm back!  =)

  Just a short announcement on my free tutorial on
 Wire Wrapped Beaded (Stud) Earrings in my blog. 

Recently, I received an email from Cheryl H. and this is what she wrote:

 "I love the free tutorial on the Wire Wrapped Beaded Stud Earrings.  I have a question though.  I do not have a jump ring mandrel, but I do have a ring mandrel.  Can you tell me, if possible, where I would use the wire on it ... what I mean is at what point on the mandrel would I wrap the earrings?  Or is there anything else I could use to wrap the wire?"

Handmade Wirework Jewelry ~ Large size Earrings

Here are a couple of large size earrings I completed during the week-long holiday.  



 Freeform wire wrapping with silver artistic wire
 and Tourmaline Gemstone Chips

Measurement:  Oval link is 4.9cm long and 2.9cm wide
6.6cm from top of ear wire

Price would be made available upon enquiry.




The famous Tree of Life earrings handcrafted from silver plated artistic wire and adorned with lapis lazuli gemstone chips/labradorite rondelle and swarovski crystals.

Measurement:  Oval component is about 4.8cm long.
From bottom loop of ear wire, it is 6.2 cm long

Hello there ..... here I am again.


  I have not been able to create any jewelries as I've been busy with personal matters, one of which being my 82 year old mum who had fallen and fractured her upper arm.  So, for the time being, wire jewelry making has to take a back seat for she's my first priority now.


Here is something I want to share though.

What is Soutache?

What is SOUTACHE?  

A SOUTACHE (as defined by Wikipedia) is a narrow flat braid trim used to decorate clothing fabric upholstery or drapery.  The braided trim may also be used to hide a seam in a piece of clothing as well as for decorations.  Today, many people are using soutache to cover the hem of bridal veils or to create floral patterns.  The thread/cords used to make a soutache come in many colours and are often made of natural fabrics such as silk and wool.  Now, the colourful cords are also used in jewelry making.  

Remember this CHINESE BUTTON EARRINGS which I posted a long time ago. I bought it at a craft shop in town and it struck my mind that it is also using the braided cord/trim but it combines with CHINESE KNOTTING.



The braided cord used here is 0.2mm thin and it is mostly glued to each other together with the beads. 

Ok ... gotta do some research on it as well as to find source of supply for the braided cord.

Good Bye 2012, Hello 2013

Hello, hello..... to all.  How is every one getting on with the new year?  So, did you start the year 2013 with a bang?  Me?  Nope.  The new year has just begun and am sorry to say that I am feeling rather exhausted already.  



I have just completed 2 tutorials (a pendant & a bracelet, at intermediate/ advance level) for my wire jewelry class as there's been a request for it and for which I will be conducting from home.  So, didn't have much time to create any other jewelries.  Moreover, the new school semester has just begun last week and Chinese New Year is fast approaching.  



Keeping in mind there are eleven a half months (+ or -) remaining, I've also written down many items that I attempt to execute in my "Things To Do" list, for example, to learn to make SOUTACHE jewelry,

to do BEAD CROCHET & BEAD EMBROIDERY
Knitted Beaded Purse by my former student & friend, Agnes Ang.

to learn how to knit/crochet a beaded purse/bag, to make peyote stitch bracelet, to write more wire jewelry tutorials, etc, etc.   But, somehow or rather, my passion/interest would always bring me back to
 crafting wire jewelry.

  Last but not least, I also found out that my latest tutorial "Filigree Pendant Tutorial" which was submitted to www.handmade-jewelry-club.com (XD Designs) have been picked as one of the tutorial of the week at www.jewelrylessons.com

Am I boring you with my ramblings?
 I hope not, as for the moment, this is all I can share with you.  


Excuse me, I need to go load the washing machine
 & make preparation for lunch.

Happy New Year 2013

Hi ya, dear.

So, the world didn't come to an end after all and we have survived the end of the world apocalypse predicted by the Mayans.  As the last day of the year approaches, it provides an opportunity to pause and reflect.  Looking back at the year, I usually recall my goals for the year and my progress in relation to those goals.  


The past couple of months has been a busy one ..... attending a former school reunion gathering, writing wirework jewelry tutorials (for beginner's wire jewelry class which I conducted from home as well as for submission to an online jewelry making site) , crafting jewelries, trying to find my own jewelry signature style, entertaining immediate family members, etc.

While typing this, I also have the rice being cooked in the rice cooker, a pot of soup simmering in the multi-purpose cooker,  dirty clothes being washed and churning  in the washing machine, browsing the newspaper in between the lines (I am a freak multi-tasker), having the house painted (not by me but the painter), and checking on the painter from time to time so that they do a perfect job of painting my wall.  

The living room is bare of all furnitures and fittings and that leaves the room easier for the painter to carry out their work.    Right from where I'm sitting I can see my "work table" in the car porch with  a project which I temporarily abandon.  


I will be busier than ever when the new school semester commence on 2nd January 2013 and wondering whether I will still have time to do my crafting as well to write more tutorials.
