My 4th Basque Burnt Cheesecake during MCO

Monday, 18th May 2020

I would like to apologize if I have bored you with my baking and cooking rants.  This blog is supposed to be about wire jewelry making but turned out otherwise.  I am "temporarily" distracted from wire jewelry craft and turning my attention to crocheting and now, this.  Bear with me please.

This cake was done  during the weekend and is my 4th Basque Burnt Cheesecake during the MCO period.  I just wanted to use up all the cream cheese that was left from previous baking sessions.  This time I really managed to get the top surface burnt accordingly.

I followed my recipe from The Emily Wong https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjSbwWhkXis on YouTube.  There are many more videos that you can find on this cake, some added matcha (green tea) and some chocolate with a twist.  You just have to follow whichever suits you.

Care to have a slice?

Feeling bored with no updates about wire jewelry crafting?  Please bear with me, ya until I get myself motivated & inspired again with wire jewelry.

Thank you for reading!

Crochet Bag ~ Multipurpose Bag

Sunday, 16th May 2020

Today is a weekend and we're at # 61st day of MCO in Malaysia
 (Malaysia's MCO started on 18th March 2020)

I am just updating some photos of crocheted bags which I've completed long ago.
This square base bag was initially done with the purpose of carrying food tupperwares/containers but ended up becoming a multipurpose bag.  It's now being used as a yarns bag where I keep my present project's yarns for convenience sake.

I cross stitched the front of the bag with the initial "E" (as in Emily) and the back with 2 hearts.  The inside is lined with fabric and a plastic board at the base to keep it sturdy.

Hope everyone is still staying safe by staying at home, taking care of personal hygiene, practising social distancing and wearing a mask while outdoors.

Till then, take care!  :D

Food ~ Steamed Glutinous Chicken Rice

Saturday, 16th May 2020

Reluctant from baking cakes/bread for the past few days, I am back with this recipe using glutinous rice.  This is the second time I made from the leftover glutinous rice I had made previously.  I was advised by the doctor to stop eating glutinous rice for health reason but I ate it anyway, because it's been such a long time since last tasted it.

I made it using one of the many recipes from YouTube channel, namely "Spice N' Pans" .
Didnt follow exactly the steps but it came out very delicious when eaten with chilli sauce.

The ingredients I've used are pre-soaked minimum 4 hours or overnight glutinous rice, pre-marinated chicken meat and chinese mushrooms and chinese sausages.  You can put whatever ingredients you want but I prefer the above.

The meat, sausages and mushrooms are arranged at the bottom of the bowl and then top up with the glutinous rice which is then pressed to level it with the bowl.

Lastly, steam in boiling water for 45 minutes or more depending on the portion.

So yummy!  😋

Metal bowls to steam (minimum 45 minutes) them in and then unmould upside down to a plate for serving.  Best eaten while still hot with chilli sauce on the side.  Feeling hungry?

😘😍😄😀😊🤗

Work In Progress - Crocheting a round base bag

14th May 2020 ( Thursday)

2 days away and the weekend is approaching. Having insomnia and feeling tired for the past couple of days, baking is out for me but routine cooking and carrying out house chores is unavoidable.

This is my work in progress for the past few days.  I need to have an outlet to destress, ok!
Infact, I have another 2 WIP projects waiting to be completed.

This is a stitch (crocodile stitch, so called because it resembles scales of the crocodile ).  Initially afraid to do this stitch but now its easy peasy.  It uses up a lot of thread though.  It started with a round base and gradually crocheted up to the height that I require.  Will update with a photo of the bag when I've completed it.

Thanks for reading.  Have a nice day !

Throwback photos on holiday trips

14th May 2020 (Thursday)

Hello!  Its a Thursday and the weekend is approaching soon .  Nothing much to blog except to share some photos at random, taken during my trip to the Island of Langkawi and Bangkok, Thailand about 3 to 4 years ago.

Posing with the 1st crochet slingbag I made purposely for this Langkawi trip.

Posing with my childhood friends (went to school together and still kept in touch up to present time)

The great landmark in Langkawi, The Eagle

Pantai Chenang, Langkawi

Can't remember the name of this place in Bangkok.  The 2nd crochet bag (bucket/barrel bag) that accompanied me on this trip.  Oh wait .... I think this was the King's Palace or King's Temple.  Loved the colourful tiling works on the building.

Still in Bangkok.  We had taken a boat cruise and stopped by this famousWat, a tourist attraction.

Railway Station @ Hua Hin

Theme Park @ Hua Hin

Another Buddhist Temple

This Bangkok trip was the most memorable of all because on the first day of arrival, I fell and sprained my ankle that left it swollen.  It was so painful for the rest of my trip that I had it bandaged and still being able to walk for another 3 days of sight seeing.  Thanks to my friends who took care of me during the trip.  Came back and seek treatment.  Up to date, my ankle is still not 100% recovered although it's been more than a year.  Taking a fall does not deter me from taking another holiday trip.

Enough said, am looking forward to another trip with my besties again in the near future.

Have a wonderful week ahead, peeps! 😘

All Things Crochet

3rd May 2020 (Sunday)

Ask me how many days we are in Malaysia having lockdown and I'll give you a blurry face.  Honestly, I've lost count the number of days already but we're into our 4th phase of the lockdown.

Well, that's that and now back to my post. I've stopped temporarily doing wirework jewelry and indulge myself in crocheting.    Here are some photos of what I've made over a couple of years that I went "missing" but I'm still keeping and revealing here.

Crochet hand clutch

Half fabric/Half crochet envelope clutch

2 colours crochet hand clutch

Crochet laptop cover

Plain crochet handbag

Crochet sling bag

Crochet tote

There are more photos to come when I next update my blog.

In the meantime, stay safe and take care, everyone! 😚😊
